The pommes a l'huile were fixed and marinated and the olive fuel delicious I layer black pepper over the potatoes and moistened the cake among the olive oil After the 1st cumbersome chart of malt I drank and ate quite slowly. When the pommes de l'huile were gone I ordered afresh serving and a cervelas. This was a salami prefer a cumbersome,broad frankfurter split amid two and covered with a special mustard sauce.We had quite agreeable snails, with a carafe of Fleurie to begin with. ... ate the snails finally,dipping up the butter, garlic and parsley sauce with broken bits of cake and drank the carafe of Fleurie.
Apart from the pommes and the escargot, Hemingway enjoyed tournedos (tenderloin cuts with sauce Bearnaise,poultry alternatively poularde de Bresse,agreeable foie de veau, bouvril mutton extract and water), endive salad and mentions eating for dessert a "fruit crown with fresh peaches and savage strawberries surrounded a tall glass pitcher with ice". All these French trays would be washed down with wine, Burgundy wines of special note.
